Year 6 Candle Ceremony
On Wednesday 18th December we will say a final farewell to our Year 6 students with our traditional candle ceremony. The students light a candle from the Corpus Christi candle as a symbol of the light of Christ in their lives which they will take with them on their journey to their new schools.
All families are welcome to join us to say goodbye. The ceremony will take place immediately following our final Advent paraliturgy which commences at 12:15 pm.
Step Up Day
On Monday 16th December we will host our final Transition Session with our annual Step Up Day between 11:30am and 1:00pm.
During this time children will get to spend time with their teacher for 2020 and work along side children who will be in their community next year.
Naturally the day will be filled with lots of excitement and some disappointment as the children find out the exact groupings. This is all to be expected yet the beauty of the set up and design of our learning spaces is that children are never far from their closest friends and there is always a familiar face at hand to ease any anxiety that may arise when dealing with change.
We ask families to bear in mind that the organisation of class groupings takes an enormous amount of time and is almost a 'science' as we take into account the social, emotional and learning needs of all children along with the advice of teachers and the particular circumstantial needs of families. It is never as simple as moving one child as this will more than likely have a roll on effect. Therefore it is unfair on others that any changes be made.
Goodbye and Farewell
As you all know at the end of this year we bid farewell to Miss Chloe Pincho and Miss Georgia Widdop. We wish them all the happiness and success for the future and thank them once again for their dedication to their teaching and for the love and support they have provided to our children.
We also say goodbye to Mrs Isabella Sabatino our retiring Director of Learning and Teaching/ Learning Diversity Leader. For 34 years Isabella has dedicated herself to Corpus Christi School (and about seven more years as a student) and has continued to develop and impart her knowledge upon hundreds of children and teachers. Isabella is widely regarded within the Western Zone and we are the jealousy of many schools for having Isabella as our Director of Learning and Teaching/Learning Diversity Leader.
We wish you well Isabella as you get to have a well deserved rest and get to spend that beautiful time as a young grandmother!
Reports and Portfolios
Today your child received their completed Student Portfolio which contains four terms of work samples and publications along with the final Student Report .
Please take the time at some stage during the hecticness of the present to celebrate with your child their achievements across the year. The Portfolios are yours to keep as a keepsake so that hopefully you can build up a picture of your child's success over years to come.

Year 6 Graduation News
On Wednesday evening our Year 6 students had their Graduation Dinner, which was a simple yet beautiful way they could celebrate their last few days together.
A small committee of Year 6 parents planned and produced a beautifully set up dining area with home cooking (provided by all parents) which would put most catering companies to shame. Thank you to all parents for your support of the evening and in particular to Karen Thomas who orchestrated the event.
Our graduating students for 2019 will be presented to our community and receive their certificates next Tuesday evening.
Check out the photos on the Extra Curricula page.
Library News : Sewing Help Urgently Needed!
If you are able to assist with making some Library bags for our new Prep students please see Miss Wilkinson to collect the material. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!
We ask that all children return their Library books by next Wednesday, 11th December. Some children still have books from previous years so please have a good look at home for any books that belong to our Library.
Library bags need to be washed and returned to your child's class teacher so that they are at school ready to be used next year.
Thank You
As the year draws to a close, and with this being the final Newsletter for the year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been part of the life of Corpus Christi in 2019:
- To Father John, for his leadership of the parish community of which the school forms an important part.
- To all our staff leaders: Mrs Isabella Sabatino, Miss Haylea Anderson, Mrs Nives Childs and Mr Zachary Lane who have had to step up in my absence .
- To Miss Jane Wilkinson who epitomises our school vision of what it is to be 'true beautiful and good'. She has held our community together during my absence, dealt with a myriad of difficult times and family circumstances that few would know, and has experienced the highs and lows of Principalship. Jane has worked tireless hours to maintain and impart our high standards and expectations of all to make Corpus Christi School what it is. So once again, we thank you!
- Thank you to all our staff, whose efforts often go unrewarded. I am grateful to all of them for their dedicated work and proud of their achievements as they continue to learn and grow in their profession.
- To all parents, for the efforts you continue to make in supporting our school through classroom assistance, attendance at school/parish functions, raffles, meetings, and fundraising activities. Thank you for all you do for your children as parents and as first educators of your children.
- To the many parents (and grandparents) who assisted with events across the year.
- To Jess Langhorne and Kylie Feely for co-ordinating Book Club throughout the year.
- To Belinda Miller, President of our PFA and to the other parents who regularly attended the PFA meetings and supported Belinda in her work.
- To all the children of Corpus Christi. Thank you for your continued prayers, your friendliness, your hard work, and the cheerful way in which you have joined in school life.
- To our Graduating Year Six children. Thank you for your leadership, for being the role models that you are, for your love and support of the younger students and the way you regularly volunteer to do all those extra jobs.
- To John Styzinski and Rodney Anderson for their work in school maintenance.
And finally, thank you to everyone in our beautiful community for the support of our school. I would like to wish each and every one of you a very safe and happy holiday. May the Christmas season fill your home with joy, your heart with love and your life with laughter and good health.
Have a wonderful holiday break
God bless
