Year 9 Values Excursion

Throughout Home Group in Term 1, Year 9s have been studying the school value of Community, and what we as individuals can do to build cohesive communities, both local and global. An excursion was planned for this unit in which students could visit one of four museums of their choice: Chinese, Immigration, Islamic or Italian, to learn more about the contributions migrants have made to Melbourne and the role institutions like museums have in promoting a cohesive society. Thank you to all students for a wonderful day out, and we look forward to our Term 2 year level excursion next!

Musical: Honk! Jr

There has been a fantastic response to the audition call out, with over 100 students submitting audition applications. These have come from across all year levels, with almost half from students who are new to musical production. Rehearsals are set to begin, and expressions of interest in back stage and production begin soon.

Students were asked "Why would you like to be part of the production?"

Here are some of their responses:

'I've been looking forward since Wakakirri to the next production so that I could be a part of that community and atmosphere again.'

'I get to meet and make new friends from across all levels. I met my best friend of two years from Seuss and it will be such a great time making new people.'

'I have realised that these productions have played a role in my growing confidence.'

Centenary of Coburg High School

The commemorative publication 'Loyal in All: Centenary of Coburg High School 1916 - 2016' is an important publication on the history of our school and was written by two of our alumni, Elisabeth Grove and Laura Donati. Copies are available for purchase at the school reception, until stocks run out. The book provides a fascinating and comprehensive history of Coburg High School from its establishment in 1916 on Bell Street through to our re-established Coburg High School here on Urquhart Street.

For more information about our alumni, there is a dedicated website run by a committee of former students:  http://www.coburghighhistorical.org
