Senior School update

It has been a fast paced start to Term 3 for our senior students. For our Year 12 students, they are well on the way to completing their final year of study. From experience, this term moves pretty fast. For our student leaders, it is almost time to pass the baton to our emerging leaders from Year 11. For many students the idea of putting their hand up to become a student leader is an easy choice. They have been contributors at sport days, helped with SRC and Interact and even been student-elected representatives on College Council. For other students, it could be an opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and embrace an opportunity to become a student leader and get more involved within the College community.

Plans are already under way for the Year 12 Yearbook and Celebration Day which includes the Year 12 Breakfast and Valedictory dinner. This day has become a wonderful tradition and has fast become a highlight of the school year.

We are also seeing newer events complementing our older school traditions. Students and staff had a wonderful time at the Year 11 and 12 Formal at Vogue Ballroom in Burwood on Thursday 27 June. Students represented the College with pride and it was a terrific night enjoyed by all. This was the second year that Koonung has organised a formal with senior students and it has fast become another exciting event enjoyed by all on the College calendar.

Students in Year 10 and 11 are making decisions about the subjects they wish to undertake in 2020. These are big decisions and the opportunity for students and parents to meet with staff during the 1:1 interview sessions over the coming weeks will help guide and support students with their choices. In the past we have had a wonderful turnout of parents and guardians supporting the students with their selections.
