Premiers’ Reading Challenge

St. Joseph’s College students are participating in the annual Premiers’ Reading Challenge.

The question is: how many books can our Yr 7 – 10 students read for the 2019 Challenge?

As of today:

• 644 students have been registered
• 70 books have been started (11 books more since last newsletter)
• 105 books have been finished (35 books more since last newsletter)
• One student has completed the Challenge.

Please encourage your child to be involved and have fun meeting the Challenge!

Competitions for your children

One way we support creativity in learning is by providing information to our students about regional and national competitions. All entry forms are available from the College Library.

The Reader's Review Competition

• Open to Premiers’ Reading Challenge participants.
• Write a 400-500 word review on a book from the booklists provided.
• Prizes: a pack of books, review published and winner plus four friends and adult spend the day at Penguin Random House, Melbourne

Insight Publications’ Creative Writing Competition

• Open to Yrs 7 – 12.
• Write on the theme The price you pay.
• Cash prizes.

2019 Dungala-Kaiela Writing Awards

• Open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a regional connection.
• Three categories: Story/yarn/article/play; Aboriginal language; Poem/lyric/rap.
• Cash prizes.

Save the date
