INTERGENERATIONAL CONVERSATIONS

This program has been successfully running in its 6th year in the Year 11 German class. The program brings together volunteering German native speakers and our students to converse on topics related to the Curriculum.

In our last lesson, we thanked the volunteers for the valuable contributions they make to the language and personal development of the students. Whilst the students´ engagement and understanding of older generations is enhanced through this program, as many of them do not have any grandparents living with them, the senior volunteers benefit from being engaged with young people and contributing to their learning. It was great to see how students showed their appreciation in the last lesson this year.

´Kaffee und Kuchen´ - coffee and cake - a typical German tradition, are part of these fortnightly afternoon programs and make it enjoyable for all participants.

I would like to thank all senior participants for the contributions they make, all students for their respectful behaviour, participation, and made an effort to provide cakes throughout the year and Mr Nutting, for providing meaningful conversation tasks in these lessons.

If you are a senior citizen and interested to participate in this program in 2020, please contact Frau Fowler on 8520 9000 or email fow@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au

FRENCH EXCHANGE 2020 - INFORMATION SESSION WEDNESDAY 6 NOVEMBER

There will be an information session for any current Year 9 students interested in next year's exchange program and their parents on Wednesday 6 November at 6:30pm in the Lecture Theatre.

If you are interested in learning more about the opportunity, please come along to the session. Our exchange program with our sister school in France has been going for over 10 years and is highly successful. It is a 3-4 week reciprocal program where you host a French student in your home in June/July and then travel to France to stay with that student and their family in November/December.

During this session, we will outline the program and what it involves. We will also explain the application process and key dates. Expressions of interest will be due by Monday 25 November.
