BOOKLISTS FOR 2020

Campion Education is again the booklist provider for McKinnon Secondary College.

Senior School

Senior Students are currently in the process of confirming their subjects for 2020 through their Managed Individual Pathways (MIPs) interviews. Once your child’s subjects have been confirmed through MIPs, booklist orders can be completed online - the link to Campion Education is on the College website or can be accessed here. This needs to be done by Friday 29 November. Please ensure you wait until your child has had their MIPs interview before you organise books/resources for next year. Families will again have the option of collecting their orders from school - this has proven to be a very convenient option. Students in the Senior School for 2020 (Years 10, 11 or 12) can collect their order from our Library (Rooms L1 & L2) on Friday 6 December. Families who would like a hard copy of the Senior School booklist can collect one from the General Office.

Junior School

2020 booklists for the Junior School are in the process of being completed. Instructions about completing orders will be provided in the coming weeks.

Online Resources

In recent years the College has moved to online resources to replace textbooks for many subjects. These resources are paid for via parent subject contributions, rather than via the Campion booklist. We are excited about the powerful learning opportunities provided by these resources, and pleased they are cheaper for families than many of the printed texts used in previous years.

Sustainable Bookshop

If families are interested in using the Sustainable Bookshop (link on the College website) to buy secondhand textbooks please ensure the edition of the book is checked carefully. To confirm this information, all 2020 booklists can be accessed via the Campion Education link on the College website.

EXAMS

All students in Years 9 - 11 will be completing exams in the coming weeks. It is critical that all students begin their revision early, seeking support and assistance from their teachers. Success will require students to set high expectations for their performance, to work hard and to take pride in their work. We encourage all students to review carefully their teachers’ feedback on Learning Tasks (via Compass) to identify areas for improvement.

UNIFORM

Please ensure your child continues to come to school in correct uniform at all times. Facial piercings such as nose studs and eyebrow piercings are not acceptable - students will be asked to remove such piercings on-the-spot, prior to attending class. We expect students to wear the uniform with pride and it is an important part of our school culture. Following Cup Day, all students need to be wearing summer uniform.

Please note: Blazers are optional in Terms 1 & 4; however, when travelling to/from school, students wishing to wear an outer garment must wear the blazer (rather than the College jumper).

COMPASS - PARENT LOGIN DETAILS

Parents need to ensure their Compass username/password is secure and confidential. As student absences can be approved online through the parent portal, it is not appropriate to share your username and password with your child. If you believe your password is not secure, it can be changed by logging on to Compass, clicking on the ‘cog’ icon (top-right corner) and selecting ‘Change My Password’. Given the importance of Compass for communicating with families, it is also worth going to ‘Update My Details’ and checking that all contact details (email and mobile phone) are correct.
