GOODBYE TO THE CLASS OF 2019

The Year 12 Valedictory Dinner was held at the Crown last Wednesday evening. A wonderful celebration marking a milestone achieved by these young people.

Parent support is one of the secrets to the success of our school and on that evening that was on display in a most impressive way.

Having an event like this creates a great memory for all involved. The Year 12 Graduates absolutely shone!

I could not have been more proud!

In fact, one of the highlights was the address from the 2019 Valedictorian Michael Birkett. An individual that truly epitomises the Values of McKinnon and has done each and every day since Year 7.

I congratulate everyone who helped to organise this event and all the staff who were in attendance to support our Class of 2019.

Exams begin this week and I wish the cohort all the very best.

THISTLELONIAN REUNION

We brought together nine Year levels for our Annual Thistlelonian Grand Reunion. Included were the first ever graduates called the originals - Class of 1959.

Also Classes of 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1989, 1999, 2009 and 2014.

We really enjoy seeing everyone return to their school. They were so impressed at the significant changes. I applaud and thank the Thistlelonian Committee for making these events possible. It really does fly the McKinnon flag!

I thank the Committee and many volunteers including Geoff Woolnough, Jenny Cooke, Pam Dickfos, Ian Jackson, Andrew Newton, Melanie Lynch, Jo Robinson, Julie Ritchie, Matthew Shaw, Roger Danne, Les McLeod, Eddie Mest, Marie Landini, Anne Guidera, Alexia Calpouzani, Karen McQueen, Liz Newland, Gerry Newland, Peter Hawkins, Jenny Liggett, Heather Penson, Noel Glenister, Tania Burnell and staff, Nick Xanthoudakis, Frank Carere and Van Muan for giving of their time!

We will do it all again same time next year!

THISTLELONIAN THANK YOU

"Good morning Pitsa

Please allow me to congratulate you again on what you have done and are doing for McKinnon ‘High School’.

I briefly congratulated you on Saturday night but putting ‘pen to paper’ seems important in an old fashioned way.

My school friends and I are so very proud of our old school and the demonstration of happiness of the younger ex-students celebrating their education on Saturday night is a testament to you and your staff.

With so much lack of both accountability and responsibility these days, the academic and social excellence you are providing at McKinnon is … simply wonderful.

Thank you

and kind regard

MIPS INTERVIEWS

Course confirmation is being undertaken by Careers Coordinators and all the Student Managers from Years 7 to 12. These conversations are very important. The team will either confirm the selected courses or make modifications.

This time of reflection really helps to cater for the needs of each and every student. Parents are welcome to attend with their son/daughter.

I thank the dedication and commitment of the Student Management team.
