Visual Arts
Artist in Residence at Aitken College 2018
Our Artist in Residence, Mr Nicholas Jones, introduced his work practice to Year 9 Art students during their double lesson on Thursday 22 February.
The photos here show the students applying the techniques of folding, cutting and sewing inspired by Nicholas’ beautiful creations. The skill and patience involved in creating the sculptures made by Nicholas are incredible. His love of literature and books in this digital world inspired him to give printed books a new meaning and value.
Students studying Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 Art Electives this year will take part in these exciting workshops. Year 11 and 12 Art students will also hear a talk by Nicholas in relation to their study of artists and the art industry.
The following link will take you to the website to view Nicholas'; works. http://www.bibliopath.org/
Thank you very much to the people who have donated books for this project. We would love more donations, specifically books with hard covers. There will be more photos of the students work in the following weeks.
