Primary News
In these past two weeks, the students have been continuing to adjust to being back onsite. Last week, the Years 5/6 students participated in ‘Into the Wild’ activities organised by some Senior Secondary students and Mr Ken Berry. This week the Years 1/2 and Years 3/4 students have participated in their own special activity days. It is wonderful to see them all having some fun together and we appreciate the support shown to the Primary students from staff across the College.
While normal transition sessions for the new 2021 Preps cannot run, we have been able to modify the program so that they can attend in small groups, particularly if they are not part of our current ELC. If there are any questions about the modified Prep Transition Program, please contact Mrs Donna Martin via email: donna.martin@baysidecc.vic.edu.au.
This week each child has been invited to nominate five students with whom they may like to be in a class in 2021. Many factors need to be considered as the new classes are formulated. While every effort will be made to accommodate at least one of your child’s choices, this can’t be guaranteed. In the previous newsletter I had asked families to email me if there was any information that I need to be aware of in regards to 2021, by last Friday 30 October. If you still need to contact me, please do so by this Friday 6 November: glenys.bailey@baysidecc.vic.edu.au.
Valuables at School
Please be reminded that students are to keep items of value at home, including mobile phones, as teachers cannot take responsibility for them. If there are exceptional circumstances for a child requiring a mobile phone to be in a school bag for use after school, please contact the classroom teacher. Any unexpected changes to pick up arrangements for Primary students need to be made through the College office. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Photo Day
On Wednesday 11 November, all students need to be in their full summer uniform, even if it is a PE day, as school photographs have been rescheduled. We are so pleased that the photographers are going to be able to come onsite to take the photos now that the restrictions are changing.
Please keep praying for the students and teachers, that they may know God’s blessings and joy during the final five weeks of term.
God bless,
Glenys Bailey

The Years 3/4 classes are trying out metal embossing. They thoroughly enjoyed trying something new and thought drawing sea creatures into metal was pretty ‘cool’.

Years 5/6 have been doing a construction unit. They are having so much fun designing, experimenting, creating and testing different structures. Here they are making geodesic domes. They've learnt that it is important to follow all of the instructions to make something that is successful and will stand alone.

Years 5/6 students participated in an 'Into the Wild' day led by the Year 11 VCAL students on North Campus. A lot of fun was had in completing team challenges, exploring the camp area and cooking on a campfire. The students had a blast!
As well, we had the bonus of using the 'Meltdown Inflatable' at the end of the day on Tuesday. There were lots of laughter, smiles and tired bodies.
Thanks to VCAL staff and the Year 11 VCAL students who did a brilliant job encouraging and teaching, and made the day memorable for the Years 5/6 students.
Enjoy a selection of photos from the campfire cooking activity, where students cooked s'mores and cheese toasties:
