Learning In Focus - Religious Education

Ms Helen Kelly

Currently our Year 7 Religious Education classes are studying the positive power of prayer.

Here are some samples from Ms Armstrong’s classes.

Read and be inspired by the depth, compassion and composure of our youngest members of St John’s.

We can take heart that the future is in safe, tender hands

O God, the world is struggling

And people are frightened

The world is suffering under many threats

And we don’t know what to do

So, Almighty God

We pray for your mercy and compassion

To the sick, the grieving and the confused

Reveal in our hearts the victories you won for us

And be a light of hope for all of us

                                                           Amen         ALIAH RIGO (7RE5)

Dear God,

You are the God of all compassion and comfort.

We thank you that you listen to our prayers. We pray today for our world, our nation, our city as the Coronavirus spreads.

To medical doctors, nurses and the supporting staff

who are in the frontline of the fight against COVID-19,

may the God sustain them and inspire them

with your life-saving services with due care, love and compassion.

At this time of sorrow, incomprehension and tragedy, we stand together.

We place in your loving care all who are affected by Coronavirus.

                                                       Amen.     SAMARAH HAGUE (7RE5)

Heavenly Father let us know you are here with us. Most of us are hopeless, afraid and in need of your guidance. Give us the strength to endure this tough situation and to continue ahead. Please guide our actions, thoughts and words. Give mercy to those who have lost their loved ones, their jobs and those who have given up. We thank you for your mercy and letting us be with our friends and people outside.

Amen.   Eliza Mapili (7RE5)
