MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Daniel Grozdanovski

Year 9 Coordinator

There’s only a couple of weeks to go for the Year 2020 as we begin to set the students up for 2021. What a crazy year that has nearly come to an end. A couple of things from the Middle Sub School as we approach the end of the year.

Exams and Orientation

All exams have now been completed. If students missed an exam, they are required to discuss with their classroom teachers, a time to complete a catch up exam during Week 9. Orientation for next year's classes has now finished. This will allow our students to prepare themselves for the year ahead and to ensure they have selected the right subjects moving forward.

Year 9 2021 Booklist

Year 9 Students should have received a 2021 booklist during Home Group this week. Please collect a copy from the Middle Sub School if you did not receive yours. Students must submit their booklist online according to the instructions on the booklist.

Please ensure you purchase all the materials, textbooks and resources for your core subjects and electives. Your 2021 subjects and electives have been posted on google classroom.  it is important students have a working pencil case with all the standard requirements. However, specialist stationery or equipment, such as specific calculators, specific types of folios, organisers must not be ignored

Year 9 and 10 Lockers

Year 9 and 10 students are now approaching the end of the year. Lockers are to be completely cleaned out at the end of the school year.

Your locks will go home with you (lock them to your school bag if you have to). Be sure to bring it back with you when you return on your first day back in 2021 (otherwise you may be charged for a new lock).

There will be extra recycling bins provided, but please think about donating any unused materials to student wellbeing for next year.

Year 9 - Activities Week and the End of Year

Week 9: Normal school week

(30/11 to 4/12)

This is a regular school week and all students in Year 9 are expected to be in attendance. Classes will run as normal with the exception of Wednesday afternoon, Periods 5 and 6. Students will participate in a House Sport Competition on that afternoon. Monday, 7 December, is the last official school day for Year 9 students and Tuesday will be a student free day before the commencement of Activities Week.

Week 10: Activities week (9/12 to 11/12)

This year, activities will look a little different, due to the impact of COVID-19. This means our normal external activities, that occur during the week, will need to be changed. Beach Day will now be on Wednesday, 9 December, and school based activities will run on Thursday, 10 December, and Friday, 11 December. Information will be released in the near future and then students will be able to sign up to events with their Year Level Coordinators.

Year 10 Final week of orientation:

Week (9/12 to 11/12)

Congratulations to our Year 10 students for completing their exams and first week of Orientation. You have one more week of Orientation classes for Week 9. Your final day of classes will be on Thursday,  3 December. On Friday, 4 December, we have online (Google Meet) Parent/Teacher Conferences set up with your Year 10 subject teachers. This should be an excellent opportunity to get some feedback after the exams and have a discussion about your performance this year.
