Year 8 Vaccines

The Department of Health Immunisation Nurses will be visiting the College this Wednesday 17 May to administer the second round of vaccines to Year 8 students.  The schedule will be HPV (Gardasil) and Chickenpox vaccines.

The Nurse’s will return to follow-up any students absent on the day.

School Meningococcal ACWY program

A vaccination to protect against Meningococcal strains A, C, W and Y will be offered to 15-19 year olds. The program will provide immunisations in school to Year 10, 11, and 12 students.

Some of the highest rates of meningococcal carriage and illness occur among 15-19 year olds and this age group can transmit the bacteria to people who are at increased risk of infection, including young children. The rationale for vaccinating 15-19 year olds is to both decrease illness from meningococcal W in this age group and to prevent carriage. Reducing carriage in this age group will reduce transmission of the bacteria to others and help prevent infections within the larger community.

Year 12 Vaccinations will take place on Thursday 29 June and Years 10 and 11 expected to be scheduled for term 3. Consent forms will be sent home with your child closer to the date of vaccination. Please note:  Parents only must sign consent form.
