Enjoying French Crepes while making a difference

We welcomed Crepes for Change at the school on Wednesday 19th July. Crepes for Change is a social enterprise run by young people who have learnt French at school and are now combining their language skills and entrepreneurial skills to make a difference! All their profits go towards eliminating youth homelessness in Australia. Not only were they role-models to our students, they were also selling delicious crepes. Our students were able to savour some crepes and order in French!

Sister School Visit

Our sister school visit is a huge success!! Students from Dumbea sur Mer and Glen Eira College were able to experience a true exchange program,  1 week in New Caledonia and 1 week in Melbourne.

Thank you to all teachers and office staff who have welcomed students in their classes and have put a lot of effort into  organising activities for the students.

The sister school relationship with Dumbea Sur Mer will no doubt continue to thrive in the coming years!

Merci Jessica Blanc and Karlyne Dedieu for all their hard work in New Caledonia for our students to have this opportunity.

New Caledonia Cultural Trip 2017

These term 2 holidays, 26 students and 3 teachers went on a wonderful cultural trip to New Caledonia. We went on incredible excursions and saw so many new things. These included Noumea Aquarium, where we were able to watch the animals being fed, visiting our sister school Dumbea Sur Mer, snorkelling in the jaw-dropping corals of Amedee Island, Melanesian dancers and seeing amazing and different parts of Noumea and the outer regions on the “Tchou Tchou” train. We all tried different types of food and most of us enjoyed them very much. The first three nights were spent at the Nouvata Parc Hotel, which most of us adored (especially swimming), and 4 wonderful days and nights of our trip staying with our host families.

Meeting our sister school was a very rewarding experience and we made a lot of new friends who were very warm and welcoming. We all ran in their yearly cross country with the children from the local primary school and got to have early lunches in their canteen.

The trip has left us with some very enduring memories, none of us wanted to leave this beautiful island and go back to the cold weather of Melbourne. We would go back anytime!

Bastille Day Celebrations

During this year's Bastille Day Celebration, Glen Eira's French band, Les Moustachus, had the opportunity to play a French song by Louise Attaque "Jt'emmene au vent" in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Meat Market in North Melbourne.

Hokusai Exhibition Excursion

Last week, 8C and 8F went on a trip the CBD to discover an exceptional exhibition at the NGV centred around the artworks of Japanese artist Hokusai. The visit was followed by an authentic Japanese Lunch at Chocolate Buddha then a shopping session at Japanese store Daiso.
