Pastoral Care
They say that there is no place like home and as I walked through the grounds of MCC today to again commence my role as Pastoral Care Worker I feel that I have returned to my home; a place where I belong. I feel the love and kindness of those who make up the Marian Catholic Community; students and staff alike. It is wonderful to be home.
Part of my role is to work with the students who form the Community Action Team (aka The C.A.T). Inspired by the work of St Vincent de Paul, this Youth Conference invites students from all year groups who are passionate about social justice and want to make a real difference to the lives of other to join them in making a difference within their community.
Recently the C.A.T (Community Action Team) launched the annual Christmas hamper activity.
This is a goodwill tradition at MCC involving students within their homeroom; promoting the gift of kindness and the spirit of Christmas. It is hoped that each student in every homeroom can contribute in some way; either individually or with a friend.
All hampers will be presented to St Vincent de Paul at our end of year Mass and be distributed to families in need within our local community. The hamper contains basic items to allow a family to plan a festive meal and hopefully bring some joy and happiness to what can often be a time of stress; due to personal hardship or financial distress.
Each hamper contains a message of support and warm wishes for the festive season and reminds people that they are never alone, and with each new day brings hope and opportunity for a brighter future.
The team have tried to keep cost to a minimum and the majority of items can be purchased at discount variety stores or regularly on special at supermarkets.
Each homeroom has been given a basket for collection up until the 30th November.
