Social Work/Well being News

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Karen Surian and I am excited and honoured to join this amazing team of educators and staff at Marian Catholic College as the School Social Worker.
Along with being a qualified AASW member Social Worker, I have a background in education, employment, and program management. My wide-ranging employment has provided me with a rich array of experiences, both professionally and personally where I have developed an understanding of both the challenges and strengths that all people possess regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, backgrounds and cultures, physical or mental capacity or socio-economic circumstances.
As the School Social Worker, my primary responsibility is to promote the wellbeing of all students at Marian Catholic College, both academically, socially, behaviourally and emotionally. I look forward to meeting with students individually and in small groups, meeting with parents and families, collaborating with teachers and staff, and consulting with community organisations and professionals where required to help create a safe, healthy and understanding environment to better support the success of all students at Marian Catholic College.
Any student can request to meet with me or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent. I encourage you to reach out if you have concerns regarding your child. If you would like for me to meet with you or your child please do not hesitate to contact me.
