The Year 8 Religious Education classes have been collaborating to complete a task about the significance of the season of Advent. The new classroom furniture as been a welcome addition, enabling flexibility within the classroom whilst fostering creativity and engagement.

Year 9 Yoga

A new initiative for the Year 9 Health Education program this year was the inclusion of two sessions of yoga run by the fantastic staff from Tamara Yoga.

Linked to class work on enhancing wellbeing and managing stress, the two sessions gave students an opportunity to stop and breathe at a busy time of year.

Yoga is calming, energizing, and increases brain function, concentration and memory, so it was a perfect addition to the teaching program just before the Year 9 students complete their end of year exams.

Feedback from staff and students was very positive and it is hoped that the program can be expanded in future years.

Year 11 Loreto & Majella Catholic Primary School

On Tuesday our Loreto Year 11’s ran activities for 50 students from Majella Catholic Primary School at City Beach. The day was a great success. This is the third year this event was run by former student Georgia Williams (Class 2018). She was assisted in the water by three of her City Beach Life Saving colleagues. We are truly grateful to Georgia and the lifesaving club for making this happen.

Pathways and Transition - INSTEP

INSTEP (Innovative Skills Training and Education Program) is a program enabling students to undertake workplace learning as part of their Western Australian Certificate of Education. This joint school and industry work placement strategy enables motivated Years 11 and 12 students to work towards secondary graduation using school, workplace learning and in some cases TAFE style learning environments. This valuable program is different to work experience—rather than observe what goes on, students are given the opportunity to complete tasks related to their vocational course, whilst at the same time take part in relevant, real but supervised work.
