Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and families

Welcome back everyone and a special welcome to our Foundation students who began today in their classes as well as our new families who have joined our school whether their children are in Foundation or not. Congratulations to families for having your children looking so terrific in their uniforms. Please continue to ensure uniform remains a focus thank you.

I thought I would again share our Year 6 student leaders who were appointed at the end of the last year for anyone who may have missed this. I am sure you will join me in wishing our students every success as they do their very best to help our school be a great place for all the students.

I would like to share Mrs Lacey's wonderful news. She has let her class and parents of her class know already but I think it is important to let everyone know that Lauren and Mark are  expecting their third child in July. I know she is looking forward to having a great first half of the year with her class before commencing her maternity leave.

Assemblies will be held fortnightly of a Monday commencing 13th February. As always parents are warmly invited to join the school at these times.

In terms of improvements over the holidays, Mr Brooking was very busy either completing jobs or working with other contractors to get things done. Many of you will have noticed we have removed many potential trip hazards with concrete laid in a variety of areas. We have also had a concrete path laid to the back deck which will keep shoes much cleaner before they enter the Foundation classrooms. The front of the office has had new signage placed on it to make the main entrance of the school a little more visible. Mr Brooking has restained both decks and the pirate ship to keep these all looking attractive. Safe fall mulch has been added to both the playgrounds to help our students if and when a softer landing is required. The administration block has had new airconditioning added as the system we had had broken down a number of times.  Some will also have noticed that the main office has also had changes. The old uniform shop and the DP's office have been combined to form a Conference/Meeting room and Mrs Thomas has moved into the old meeting room adjoining mine. All of these improvements have certainly improved our school considerably.

The Foundation students have been in individually with the teachers early in this week. I overheard one little boy as he was quizzed on which numbers were the biggest and smallest of the group that he was being shown state "I don't know what that number is but I really want to know!!'. It was 1307 which is a very large number for a Preppy but what I loved to hear was his inquisitive voice and wanting to find out more and learn! Our Foundation teachers will certainly have a massive year with their students and long may the children all show such an inquisitive nature.

God bless you all

Principal
