Swimming Carnival - Thursday 16th February 2023

 

We are very excited to hold our 2023 Bairnsdale Secondary College swimming carnival on Thursday 16th February at the outdoor pool.

 

This is a whole school event and there will be something for everyone! As well as the swimming races, the Vocational Major students will be hosting a variety of novelty events, a barbeque and selling other items on the grassed area. The pool canteen will also be open for student purchases.

 

Parents and carers need to provide consent to attend the swimming carnival via the Compass App.  This is a no charge event.  Only College staff and students are permitted to attend the event.

 

Session 1 will be classes as normal at the College. At 10.00 am all students and staff will walk to the pool. When the students and staff arrive the carnival will commence and will continue for the remainder of the day. As all College staff will be at the pool, there will be no additional programs or student supervision available at our College.  Student attendance rolls will be marked.

 

At the conclusion of the carnival, students will be dismissed from the pool. Bus travellers will supervised to walk back to the College and meet their bus at the regular time. 

 

The day will be a casual clothes day. Students are permitted to wear casual clothes to and from school, preferably in house colours. NO face/body paint or hair spray will be permitted!

 

What to Bring: 

  • Swimmers 
  • Towel
  • Lunch and/or money as the VM BBQ and pool canteen will be available for purchases
  • Water bottle
  • Sun safety - sunscreen, hat, sunglasses etc.

Students will participate in College House meetings on Tuesday 14th February at 1.30 pm where they will be provided with more details.

School Photos - Friday 3rd March 2023

 

School photo day for Bairnsdale Secondary College students is scheduled for Friday 3rd March.  Students who are unable/do not attend that day will have their photos taken on Wednesday 8th March.

NAPLAN 2023

Preparation for NAPLAN 2023 is well underway. NAPLAN is a series of test sessions for every Year 7 and 9 student in Australia. Its primary purpose is to track student academic progress and there is no pass or fail. NAPLAN gives the College valuable information regarding student growth, our curriculum, the quality of our program delivery and much more.  

 

This year, NAPLAN testing will be conducted in Term 1, from Wednesday 15th to Monday 27th March.
