A Successful year for BPS Netball Club!

As we near the end of 2022, there are a lot of happy netballers walking around the BPS grounds. And what a year it has been!

We finished the year with six teams, including three teams in the Saturday graded competition (BPS Phoenix, BPS Dragons, BPS Pegasus). Phoenix and Pegasus both put in big efforts during last Saturday's semifinals, but eventually went down to their respective opponents. However, the Dragons are still in the hunt and will play in the grand final this Saturday morning at Sportlink. Good luck, Dragons!

Of our three Monday night GO teams (BPS Elves, BPS Unicorns, BPS Pixies), the Unicorns and Pixies will move to the Saturday graded competition next year.  We also had many of our players trial for 2023 rep teams, with five players qualifying – Amelia R, Ava M, Ivy B, Lauren P and Tessa C. Congratulations to everyone who had a go.

For a young club to field five teams in the graded competition and have five rep players is an amazing achievement. We are so proud of our netballers, who only started 18 months ago without any knowledge about the game. We are also delighted that most of our grade 6 team will  be returning next season, despite making the transition to high school.

Of course, none of this would have happened without the fantastic efforts of our fantastic volunteers – coaches, team managers, committee members, parent helpers – together with the support of Andrew Cock and the wonderful office staff to let us use the school netball courts and the school kitchen for our club functions. Thank you to Merissa Pickford for helping out with our team assessments. BPS Netball Club would also like to acknowledge our financial sponsor, Synergy Insurance Brokers, and local cafes Toast and Battle for donating gift vouchers.

On another note, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Kirralee Felicite back to the club as our coach coordinator. Kirralee is an amazing netball resource and will provide valuable support to the committee, so our club can continue to offer our kids the opportunity to play this great game.

Finally, we will round off the year with our first end-of-year presentation night this Monday in the gym foyer, before a well-earned summer break 😀

Happy netballing!

President
