Car Parking
Parking Reminder for Kiss and Drop Zones
We would like to remind all parents and caregivers of the importance of following the correct procedures when driving around the Greenwith Campus area. We ask that when using Laburnum Drive Kiss and Drop you adhere to the conditions. Parking, double parking and leaving your vehicle are not permitted. It is imperative that you drive within the speed limit when children are present.
Parking in the Greenwith Campus Car Park (front of school)
To ensure the safety of children and families who use the car park and to reduce the chance of an accident, Campus Management asks that all families FROM Greenwith PS and Our Lady of Hope who use the car park in front of the Parish Centre drive in through the second entrance and out through the entrance closest to the street. Do not turn right to join the queue again but exit the car park, drive around the roundabout and back into the car park. To help with the flow of traffic Do not EXIT your car to assist children with CAR SEATS OR SCHOOL BAGS. If your child requires assistance, please park your car in the car park and walk into the school grounds as it holds up the flow of traffic not only on the school grounds but for road users on Golden Grove Road and The Golden Way (i.e. Emergency Services vehicles, buses, cars etc.) banking up around the roundabout causing traffic to come to a standstill.
The 2 Campus Staff Carpark areas on your left as you enter the grounds are not available for parent parking.
Below is a diagram which shows the flow of traffic that is involved in this. If there are any questions or queries about this please feel free to approach the office staff of either school.
Parking in the Community Centre Car Park (rear of school)
If you use the Kiss & Ride pick-up zone in front of the Community Centre when collecting your child/children after school, you are reminded that if your child/children haven’t arrived and aren’t waiting for you when you get there, you are not allowed to park in the pickup zone and wait for them. If your child/children are not there waiting for you when you arrive, you are required to drive around the car park and come back again making your way to the end of the Kiss & Ride pick-up lane (near the playground). This procedure needs to be repeated until your child/children arrive. Under no circumstances are you permitted to leave your vehicle unattended in this zone. Please ensure if you are not the one collecting your child/children that the person/s collecting them are aware of the correct procedure.
Stopping on a continuous yellow edge line is illegal under the Australian Road Rules, Road Traffic Act 1961 (see exert below) and incurs an expiation fee of $164.
169—No stopping on a road with a yellow edge line
"A driver must not stop at the side of a road marked with a continuous yellow edge line. Offence provision. "
25 km/h Speed Limit
- Between school crossing (koala crossing) when the lights are flashing as indicated by a Children's Crossing sign.
- When a child is within a school zone, which is formed between a school zone sign and end school zone sign. This applies whenever a child is on the road, footpath, median strip, or even on a bicycle including outside of school hours.
A ‘child’ means a person less than 18 years of age, and includes a student of any age wearing a school uniform.
A school zone is also marked with zigzag lines on the road where practicable, to show that you are approaching a school zone. - You must not exceed 25 km/h when passing, in either direction, a school bus that has stopped for the purpose of setting down or picking up children.
