NAPLAN 2023

Good afternoon parents and carers,

Students in Year 7 and 9 will be participating in NAPLAN tests from Wednesday 15 March to Monday 27 March. We encourage all students in Year 7 to 9 to participate in all four tests. NAPLAN provides our school with very important information about student progress that:

  • allows our teachers to adjust their teaching to the needs of individual students.
  • allows teachers, students and families to track individual development in literacy and numeracy.
  • provides the evidence that allows our school to receive possible additional funding through middle years' literacy and numeracy programs.
  • provides students with exposure to exam conditions that will better prepare students for VCE.

Families should be aware that individual results are never shared with other students or families.

Families who have reservations about their child participating NAPLAN should contact the College before Wednesday 8 March. A member from the College's Leadership Team will then make contact with families to discuss any concerns.

As per VCE exams, students who who have diagnosed medical conditions may also be entitled to special consideration. This may allow for a variety of possible adjustments to be implemented, such as additional time, a scribe or other supports your child requires to complete tests. If you believe your child may be entitled to special consideration, please contact the College's Reception before Wednesday 8 March to apply for an adjustment.

For more general information about NAPLAN please see the attached file.

Yours sincerely,

Justin Hird -  CSC Principal

RYPEN provides an experience of ideas, problems and social experiences which will assist your selected students to form their own values and moral standards and allow them to broaden their horizons culturally, socially and academically.

‘Challenge by choice’ is an important and integral aspect of the program experience.

Students are free to discuss and interpret what they experience with each other as well as with the mentoring Supporters and Rotarians involved in running the camp.

It is very important that students understand they need to willingly participate to gain maximum benefit from the experience. The students attending the Camp also need to be aware that they will be involved in a number of physical exercises both indoors and outdoors.

The program is FREE (all costs and transport to and from the camp are provided by the sponsoring Rotary or Rotaract Club).
