Celebrating National Tree Day

Magill School is happy to continue to be involved in Burnside Council’s Native Tree Giveway to celebrate National Tree Day.   The council donates three advanced native trees, and for 2021 we chose three different varieties of Callistemon trees (bottle brushes) to plant at Magill.

This provides a great opportunity to increase native trees in the area as well as provides an educational avenue for the students to actively engage and learn about the environment and sustainability.  Our Science teacher, Dani Bator and the students in the Sustainability Stars Student Action Team planted the trees and the ongoing watering and care of the trees will form part of the sustainability learning program.

We look forward to continuing working with Burnside Council with this wonderful community initiative to increase native trees in the area.

Book Week celebrations - 'Old Worlds, New Worlds,Other Worlds'

The Children's Book Council of Australia celebrate Book Week every year in late August. The theme for this year was 'Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds.'

Magill School celebrated Book Week in Week 6. Several classes read a range of the books that were shortlisted in the lead up and during Book Week, culminating in a dress up day on Friday 27th September.

Here are some photos of our Book Week.
