Author Visits for Book Week

Next week is Book Week and an opportunity to celebrate our love of books. We are exceptionally fortunate to have three authors coming to discuss their writing with us.

Amelia Mellor- Tuesday 1 pm

Amelia is a fellow Victorian who published her first novel in 2020. This novel, The Grandest Bookshop in the world, is set in Collins street and is a vocabulary-rich story about a family of eight who owns a bookshop. Some 5/6 students are currently enjoying this book during literature circles.  The senior students are really keen to understand Amelia's writing process and how she comes up with her riddles.

Konrad Marshall- Thursday 9:30 am

Konrad is a senior writer for The Good Weekend and Author of three books about the Richmond Football Club. Konrad has, through his writing, provided commentary on a range of topics. Topics include The Reading Wars (my personal favourite), CTE Concussion,  Ash Barty, and Rod Laver. Most importantly, Konrad is dad to Charlie M who is in 2SL. I know the students are excited to learn about writing nonfiction texts and perhaps hearing about interviews Konrad has done with some of  Australia's favourite athletes.

Alex Miles- Friday 9:00 am

Alex is another fellow Victorian who has written for theatre and television. The students at St Anthony's will know Alex best from her pen-name H.I. Larry which was used to write eight books in the Zac Power series. Alex has written her own series Starring Olive Black. We are looking forward to Alex sharing the story of how books travel from concept to the bookshelf.
