MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Daniel Grozdanovski

Year 10 Coordinator

Isn’t it great to be back at school after another period of Remote Learning! Once again we’d like to congratulate our students in middle school for adapting so quickly into Remote Learning. Our students have shown tremendous resilience, continually being thrown in and out of on-site and off-site learning environments. It was great to see so many students logging-on and maintaining those high standards they have set for themselves in the classroom. Hopefully we can string together a few more weeks of on-site learning as we move into a busy couple of weeks.

Year 10 Careers Week and Subject Selections

Over the next couple of weeks students in the Middle Sub School will complete their subject selections for next year. This is an important step in creating the correct pathways for our students moving forward. This is a much more intense process for our Year 10 students who have undertaken some 'Careers Activities' to provide them a greater understanding of VCE, VCAL and VET pathways. They have also undertaken some life skills in regards to finding careers and money management.

Year 9: Week 6 - Subject selections

Thursday, 19 August: 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Friday, 20 August: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

More information about subject and pathway options can be found on the College website. https://ngsc.vic.edu.au/curriculum/middle-school/

Year 10 Camp

Students/Parents this week were given information about our upcoming Year 10 Camp. The Camp will be in Melbourne on 7 and 8 October. The aim of the camp is to experience iconic Melbourne, celebrate our multicultural diversity, and explore some of the hidden facets of our community. It provides the students with a great opportunity to develop their independence and strengthen their interpersonal skills. The camp permission forms and payments must be completed and returned no later than  31 August.

Positive and Community Focus

During Term 3, and hopefully beyond, we are driving a positive and community focus in the Middle Sub-School. It is very easy with today's current circumstances to only focus on the negatives. Over the coming weeks we will be posting on Compass some positive wellbeing tips/strategies and some activities for our students to complete to try and shift that mindset. There are also some tips and strategies in the student planner that we continue to ask students to refer to and continue to implement at school.
