Year 9 My City excursion

On Wednesday 4 August, two My City classes went on their first teacher-led excursion to explore the city of Melbourne and to learn about public transport.

Both groups worked together at orientating their way around the city and applied the mapping skills that they had practised in class. Students caught the 907 bus to the city and then caught the tram into the Docklands.

Our group looked at the ice skating venue that they would visit next week for their first student-led excursion. Students also got the chance to walk around the District centre and have a quick snack before catching the city circle tram around the city and listening to the commentary.  After that, we then stopped for lunch.

Students had a great day exploring the city and overcoming any nervousness they had for the coming weeks where they will lead their excursions to their selected venues. Students demonstrated our school values and focused on working together. Students completed the worksheet which had a series of questions about Melbourne. Prizes will be awarded for the most correct answers. Below are some students reflections on their first excursion.
