Library News

The school library is a wonderful hub of learning and discovery where all students are welcome.

Other than offering books, computers and resources, the library is a safe space where students are encouraged to think, create and share information with their friends.  Respect for other library users and the resources is something we value at our College.

Cornucopia Yearbook 2021

Cornucopia is the name of Doncaster Secondary College’s yearbook.  'Cornucopia' means: an abundant supply of good things. And good things is what it contains!

Cornucopia is a culmination of all the events, stories, sporting endeavours, creative activities and general frivolity that has taken place at our school over the past year.  Despite the numerous lockdowns we have lived through in 2021, you’ll be surprised at how much we have achieved together.  Carefully curated by our Yearbook Editor, Sue Hayward, Cornucopia is a keepsake that you will cherish and regularly refer to throughout your life.

The Cornucopia Yearbook 2021 will be distributed during mid term 4.  To receive your copy please pay $25.00 through Compass Events or at the school office. There will only be a limited supply so please secure your copy.

Book Recommendations

The Wild

by Owen Lukkanen (find me in the Action/Adventure section)

Dawn is making all the wrong decisions with her life…

She is forced to attend a ‘wilderness boot camp’ for wayward teens to sort herself out, but if things go wrong, Dawn may end up in a place no one expected…

Sometimes plans go very wrong…

This Is Not The Jess show

by Anna Carey (find me in the Science Fiction section)

There is something wrong … and Jess can’t quite put her finger on it.

It’s 1998 and Jess is having the normal teenage experiences, school, a crush on her best friend, and dramas with peers and parents.

But what about the air of secrecy, the fact everyone stops talking when she enters a room and the iPhone (not invented yet) that falls out of a backpack?

For lovers of the Truman show …

The Extremely Embarrassing Life of Lottie Brooks

by Katie Kirby (find me in the Romance/Chick Lit)

Lottie’s best friend has moved and Lottie has to start High School alone and friendless …

Read Lottie’s diary and see how she navigates being in the cool girl group, parents, a ratty little brother and even the year 7 disco!

Light and funny.

We look forward to seeing you in the library soon!  Come and find the perfect book for you.
