Sport and competition

I hope that everyone is keeping well, safe and active during this period of lockdown.

Unfortunately, the large amount of sporting events that were meant to go ahead over the past few weeks has been put on hold as directed by the Chief Health advice.

I can only hope that once restrictions are lifted that the sporting events will be rescheduled and we can proceed as planned. Should this be the case, I will be contact with the students involved.

During our remote period, we know the importance of getting active and benefits on our own health and wellbeing. Our MGSC Fitness at home program that has been shared on Compass is just one way in which the whole family can be active or engage in an online workout of your choice.

Here are some reminders about the benefits of being physically active :

  • When children participate in regular physical activity, it boosts their physical and mental health and improves academic performance.
  • Physical activity throughout the day also improves concentration, and the ability to retain information and solve problems
  • There are many benefits to being active and getting your move on, but a lot of children aren’t moving enough, particularly while learning from home.
  • 15 minutes four times a day is all it takes.

To help support your children to stay active while learning from home, families can access a range of free COVIDSafe ideas to stay active through Get Active Victoria. See the 'Let's get physical' article.

Take care and look after your health and wellbeing.
