Recycling Program

Our Environment & Sustainability student leaders are working hard on multiple projects.

We have reintroduced the Recycling Program with a collaboration with the Good Choice Disability group every Wednesday. Most staff and some of the students may remember Christian and his team visting MGSC to help empty paper recycling bins. It was formerly known as the Disability/community integration Recycle Program. This program involves four to five people with mild Intellectual disabilities attending the school every Wednesday, for around four hours to participate in a variety of tasks listed below.

Two members of the Environmental and Sustainability, Anuki (7A) and Cleo (10E) will assist the helpers at lunchtime. Tasks include:

  • Paper recycling, processing it, room by room
  • Sweeping and cleaning the yard and tennis courts
  • Completing paper shredding
  • Assisting in tidying up the library

This program is a great opportunity for our students to gain valuable experience of persons with a disability, as well as leadership skills (not to mention helping with the recycling). The Environment & Sustainability team are also working to create a Connect Centre Garden for learning and teaching.
