Principal's Report

Dear Parents & Families,

Our school community has great empathy for those families who are currently under Stop and Stay Orders for 14 days. Currently we have over 30 families in this position and four members of staff. Our priority is looking after the health and wellbeing of our community whilst continuing the learning program for your children. Please reach out to us if there is anything we can do.

LEARNING PACKS

Learning Packs for Foundation-Grade 2 are available for pick up from the front of the school. Grades 3-6 will continue to work online. For those families who have requested that the packs be delivered, we will endeavor to do this tomorrow. Thank you to those parents who have offered to do deliveries however we think we have it covered.

At this stage we have no information on how long remote learning will continue for.

FATHER’S DAY STALL

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have decided to put the Father’s Day stall on hold. We may have a belated Father’s Day Stall at a later date. Kristy Fasano is kindly working on an activity pack which will be emailed out next week. All donations will be held over until they can be used.

ONSITE SUPERVISION

I am very appreciative of the staff who have volunteered to do supervision this week. As we have staff on Stop and Stay Orders, our remaining teachers are going above and beyond of what is expected of them.

The following categories are eligible for on-site supervision and care at all Victorian schools:

A)      Children where both parents and or carers are considered authorised workers                       who cannot work from home, work for an authorised provider and where no other                  supervision arrangements can be made:

  • Where there are two parents/carers, both must be authorised workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision at school.

  • For single parents/ carers, the authorised worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision at school.

B)       Children experiencing vulnerability, including:

a.  in out-of-home care

b. deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home

c. identified by a school or early childhood service as vulnerable, (including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service)

d. Where a parent/carer indicates that a student with a disability is vulnerable because they cannot learn from home, and/or informs the school the student is vulnerable due to family stress, the school must provide on-site supervision for that student. This may apply to students enrolled in specialist schools and students with a disability enrolled in mainstream schools.

Authorised worker permits for on-site supervision

Parents and carers will only be able to request on-site supervision for their child/ren in Category A if they hold a permit as an authorised worker. A copy of a permit/s must be submitted as soon as practicable after issuance for those seeking Category A on-site supervision.  A permit is not required for accessing on-site supervision under Category B.

Those on Stop and Stay Orders cannot access onsite supervision for any reason until they have written clearance from DHHS.

Attached to the newsletter is the request for supervision form.

Enjoy your weekend, I think next week we are going to have some beautiful weather.

Regards Heather
