RUOK? Day

RUOK? Day was on Thursday 9th September and is a national day of action dedicated to supporting those struggling with life's ups and downs.  This year’s theme was “are they really ok?” and is a good reminder that many of us will say “fine” even when we are not and that the last two steps in asking RUOK?, check in and encourage action, are just as important as asking the question itself.

Auburn recognises the importance of this message, not just on the day, but

every  day and so a whole weeks’ worth of mental health awareness and self-care activities were planned by the Student Leadership and Wellbeing Teams.  Students were encouraged to take part in a range of daily activities that help them maintain a healthy headspace and spend quality time with friends and family.  It was so good to see Teams and WebEx flooded with yellow on RUOK? Day itself and I would like to extend a huge thank you to Ms Price, the Student Leadership Team, and everyone who took part!

A gentle farewell from the AHS Chaplain

Hello AHS community,

Well here we are, the end of another term.  Well done everyone for making it through another stint of remote learning.

I have been lucky enough to work at Auburn HS for the last few years and have seen the incredible and unsurprising resilience and dedication of our students and staff.  During what were wild and uncertain times, our community banded together in compassionate support and consistent engagement.  Thank you to everyone who played their part and will continue to play their part in getting through 2021.

Unfortunately, I will be finishing at Auburn at the end of Term 3, to take on the Chaplaincy position at Brighton Secondary College where I currently work within the wellbeing team.  I have loved working at Auburn over these last 2.5 years and wish you all the very best for what’s ahead.

A little reminder that:  You. All. Matter.

Rest well during the break everyone!
