Student Leadership Team Update

Despite being thrown in and out of lockdown this term, the Student Leadership Team has worked immensely hard to keep our community connected.  As a whole, our team successfully planned and ran the Virtual House Athletics where many students across year levels joined (with amazing, creative costumes!).  Everyone eagerly participated in the activities whether it was a walk, ride, run or some yoga, or something more creative such as cooking.

The Wellbeing Action Group planned Headspace guest speakers to come and talk to our Year 9s and 8s that focuses on building and maintaining a positive relationship with ourselves and what stress can look like and how to manage it.  These are such great tips given the current climate that can be isolating and unmotivating at times.  We celebrated R U OK? DAY with a different activity each day to encourage starting conversations regarding mental health and maintaining healthy habits. The Wellbeing team worked hard to find activities and promote participation throughout the week.  On R U OK? DAY, we saw many students and staff wearing yellow or using a yellow virtual background which we were so proud to see considering mental health is an integral part of our daily lives.

The Community and Extra-Curricular Action Groups helped our year levels come up with ways to remain connected despite online learning.  Years 9 and 10s have been successfully running Daily Quizzes which have grown to become a favourite part of our days and we loved to see the growing participation and engagement on Teams.  All year levels have also started threads regarding pets, entertainment, cooking, and prep photos.

A huge thank you to all the Student Leaders who have facilitated the year level assemblies.  They have all worked hard, and spoke clearly and confidently while presenting their achievements.

As Term 3 is coming to a close, the Student Leadership Team had a reflection session this week in which they discussed and celebrated their achievement this past term.  They have also been brainstorming ideas to keep our school engaged and connected in Term 4 (whether we are on-site or off-site).

We are proud of every member of staff and the student body for making it this far, it has not been easy but your persistence is admirable :) Have a wonderful break!
