From the Acting Principal

Ross Pritchard

A lot happens in ten weeks of school.  When we reflect on the events this term there is much to acknowledge, even in remote learning when each day seems to blend in to the next.  I would like to take a moment to recognise the collaboration, cooperation and engagement of the entire school community.  It takes a village to raise a child and a community to create a great school.  Community-minded people work hard for each other, they turn up for each other despite challenges, they look out for each and offer support, they set goals that have others in mind and their achievements are interdependent on other people’s contributions.

This is what I have seen during my time at Auburn High School and particularly this term as I have been Acting Principal.  I am grateful to each and every one for the role they play in providing guidance, structure and a high-quality state education for our students.  Thank you.

Our Principal, Maria Karvouni, will take some additional leave next term and we anticipate welcoming her back on campus around mid-November.  She congratulates everyone on their success and is particularly keen to see our senior students finish their time at the school with a positive term four and examination period.  The Year 12s are a special group and we have all enjoyed working with them this year.

Ms Kristie Satilmis will resume Acting Principal duties.  Myself (Year 10-12) and Dannielle Gibson (Year 7-9) will be the Assistant Principals and the teaching allotments will remain largely the same for the term.

I wish everyone a restful break.  The batteries need charging and the sun will be out, so get active.  Thank you again for a very successful term.  We have achieved lots of things this term and can be optimistic about what’s next.
