BOOK WEEK

Celebrating Book Week 2021

Each year since 1945, the Children’s Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one magnificent week celebrating books, Australian children's authors and illustrators and the importance of reading.

This year’s theme is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’ and we are having a fun week highlighting the importance of reading and writing and engaging with quality Australian literature.

On Tuesday afternoon students participated in St Gabriel’s Worlds Tour where they visited and met many interesting people, creatures and places. Each student received a stamp on their passport for each world they visited and were keen to learn from their peers.

Wednesday afternoon we worked in our Mentoring Groups to participate in shared reading and art/craft learning experiences which focused on this year’s shortlisted picture books.

We had wonderful weather this morning for our annual Book Week dress up parade where many colourful and creative book characters came to life.  Here are some highlights from the 2021 Book Week celebrations.
