The Premiers Reading Challenge

Students can access books recommended for The Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge by using the Search computers in the library. From the Home Page, click the Quick Lists tab at the top of the page and a drop down list of the different Year levels appears. Click the appropriate Year level and the recommended books that we hold in our library will appear.

Holiday reading

Students from prep to Year 12 may borrow an extra book, on top of their usual allowance, to read over the holidays. We are constantly adding new books to our collection. We also encourage parents to join our library. We have a good selection of books in our senior reading section.

Genrefication

‘Genrefication’ of our fiction collection continues. We have completed our sections on Science Fiction , which includes Dystopian fiction, the future and Steampunk ; The Classics; Chick Lit and Lad Lit. Some books cover a number of genres. The Classics, for example, has books from Science Fiction such as The Day of the Triffids, and Chick Lit – Pride and Prejudice and Lad Lit – The Catcher in the Rye.

Our Chick Lit and Lad Lit sections are works of fiction about adolescent issues including family relationships, romance, friendships, bullying and school and workplace matters. Some are humorous and light hearted but not all. Some Chick Lit and Lad Lit could belong to either category.

Each genre contains books for varying reading levels and age groups of our students. Again, for example, the Classics section contains Anne of Green Gables and Heidi as well as  War and Peace and The Three Musketeers.

ID Cards

From the start of Term 3, secondary students must have their ID cards with them to borrow books from the library.

Thank you to Charlie Ta for his help in bringing the garden to life.

A reminder that parents are welcome to borrow from our library.
