Katie Kim – Flute / Piano / Cello
Katie has been an instrumental music tutor (flute, violin, piano) for more than 20 years. She has extensive experience in teaching students from a very young age to adults, as well as students from diverse backgrounds.
Katie has a high level of proficiency and also works as a professional flautist. Just recently, she performed alongside Merlyn Quaiffe (AM, Soprano) and Ed Chan (piano) in 'The Enchanted Flute', held on Sunday 17 March at The Capital in Bendigo. In addition, Katie is a member of and performs with, the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra.
Katie’s style of teaching is holistic; she is confident in building technical foundations to develop artistic and musical phrasing and she has an extensive list of flute repertoires to share the joy of making music with people. Katie is responsive to students’ individual strengths, weaknesses, and other needs as required.
Katie can also accompany her students during lessons, as well as for AMEB exams, tertiary auditions, recitals, and competitions.
Katie believes, ‘There is something very special about teaching instrumental music to young students of fresh beautiful minds, because music transforms us. It is most rewarding to witness the process of students being transformed, becoming emotionally resilient, and gaining a life companion called music!’
Katie is thrilled to meet MAG students, and to teach the art of flute playing and share the joy of making music!
To support students and families with the opportunity to learn flute, the School will be purchasing a small number of Nuvo Flutes, that will be available to hire at the reasonable cost of $20 per term so that families are not required to purchase their own instrument initially.
