From our Principal

The end of Term 1
I commented to a group of Year 12 students yesterday that they are now half-way through their HSC year. Some looked terrified and others thrilled at the idea. On reflection, so much has happened in the last ten weeks that has been Term 1, 2019. The students in Years 5, 7 and 8 have had wonderful experiences at camp, all our students from Kindergarten to Year 12 have been involved in swimming, athletics and cross-country carnivals at school and many students have also progressed to representative level in these sports. Our Grease production is in full swing with rehearsals each week as well as performances from Drumline and MAGs Singers at community events and a movie night hosted by the Parent’s Association. There have been so many great opportunities for students, staff and families this term to be involved in the community and build positive relationships across year levels. It is wonderful to watch our students flourish and grow as people as they take on these daily challenges.
As a school we have said ‘farewell’ to Maris Carmody after 14 years of service as a Mathematics and Science teacher at Moama Anglican Grammar. Maris commented to the staff that she has enjoyed her time at the school and has loved being involved in the growth of a new school. She intends to travel for a while and we then hope to see her return to help out as a casual teacher in the future. We are all very grateful for Maris’ dedication and commitment, students have often commented that she is always willing to help and support them with their learning. We wish her and her family all the best for the future.
Our Head of Pastoral Care, Mrs Libby Barnes is taking a break for Terms 2 and 3. Libby will be on long service leave and will return in Term 4. We wish her a well-earned rest and an opportunity to relax. In her absence, please contact either Nigel Rudge with any concerns or questions about Primary students or Jeff Scott about Secondary students.
I wish all our families a safe and relaxing holiday.
Mrs Carmel Spry
