Art News

The students have been busy in Visual Arts in the last couple of weeks. Foundation have been making big black spiders. Juniors have been learning skills in sewing and are making personal bags. The middles are making mini houses and the seniors have been working on their Olympic collage.

If you have any plastic jars, such as Nutella and similar or  any shoe boxes you no longer need, the art room would love to take them off your hands. Thank you everyone for your continuing support and wonderful donations.

Insects are amazing

One of the best parts of Science being all around us is the enjoyment when we make discoveries in the yard. We have been focusing on ensuring we don't touch or interrupt insects that can bite and appreciating but putting back insects that are ok to handle.

Droids and Angry Bird Towers

Middle school had great success this week and put their STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) skills to the test. We created moving droids which showed great creativity and towers that will withstand any Angry bird being  catapulted  at them. I was incredibly impressed with students ability to use their cooperative skills to negotiate their designs and problem solve together.  The seniors will be working on their STEM challenges on Thursday.

Scientist in Schools

We had our first session this term last Thursday with Michael Turner who taught Middle school how to make an elctro magnet. We then had to see how many paperclips we could pick up with our magnet. We learnt really interesting facts about how magnets are used in everyday objects.

Foundation loved thier session making bubbles move with the wind, our breath and the wind. We had an absolute ball blowing the bubbles in the school yard.

Connor "bubbles move by blowing them"

Cooper "the bubbles are moving with the wind."
