Senior School News

Welcome!

Like always, we have been extremely busy in Senior School.  We had a very fun day out in the city for the MCG excursion, which was a great way to bring the term to a close.  This week we will be attending the Hoop Time basketball tournament at the local Kilsyth basketball centre.  You are welcome to come along and spectate, just let one of our staff members know who you are there to watch - we all know the importance of keeping our children safe at all times!

The school has been busy planning the term levies for next term and these are going to be handed out next week.  As always, we will be encouraging parents and guardians to get their child's levy in on time and if there are any problems, just pop in and see our lovely ladies, Carolyn or Janine in the office and they can help you out!

Next week we will be having our termly newsletter handed out with the levies so please make sure you check out all the important things that are coming up next term.

Next Wednesday night, our seniors will be celebrating their hard work during Term 3 with our homework movie reward night.  If your child has submitted the minimum number of homework tasks required, they will be eligible to come along for the night.

The movie has not yet been confirmed, however it will be PG and it will be either Eddie the Eagle (which ties in nicely with our Olympic theme) or The Jungle Book.  As always, we will be organising the food and groups for the night next Monday.  Jump Disco is here! Put on your dancing shoes and come and boogie this Friday night. Mrs. Hubbard, Mrs. Vaughn and Mr. Roscoe will be there to tear up the floor and make sure that everyone is having a good night!

Termly Movie Night

Our termly movie night is approaching! Next Wednesday the 14th of September, our students will be celebrating the successful completion of their Term 3 homework.  Students are required to meet the minimum standard that has been set and explained on the homework sheets in order for them to be allowed to come and participate.  We are organising the food and groups this coming Monday and we have sent out notices about it today.  If you have further queries about this please come and see Mr Roscoe or Mrs. Seemann at some point before the night.

The MCG Excursion

Last Thursday the 1st of September, our Seniors went on an excursion to the MCG.  We experience meeting an Olympian, rower Sonia Heath, and got to see all the cool and awesome things that go on behind the scenes at the MCG.  We explored the local indigenous artwork at Birrarung Marr and experienced the hustle and bustle of the city Metro system during peak hour - great learning curve for those who will be taking transport to high school next year and even the year after!  A special thanks to our parent helpers, Mel Cooper and Richard Henry who gave up their precious time to come and hang out with us on the day!

End of Options

Options, which is a school based in Bayswater, has been working very closely with our school - particularly the Seniors.  Both Russ and Cath have given a lot of their time to help our school build a positive climate for learning. Our students have been working with these guys since Term 1 so it will be really hard to see them go!  We will be keeping in contact with them and may even look at setting up a skype session next term - fingers crossed!

Graduation

The graduation committee has been working really hard to support our year 6's with their graduation ceremony. They are committed to making the graduation night a night to remember! The committee has organised a note to be sent home which tells parents about the types of memorabilia that they can purchase for their child.  Please support our year 6's by buying jam donuts and Milo and milk every Wednesday!  All the proceeds go to the graduation fund.
