Hansen Park
We have a very excting program starting in Middle with five different students going to Hansen Park Preschool weekly. So far 5 students from Middle A, B and C have gone and read to the pre-schoolers. This program has been set up to create community links between our school and Hansen Park. We are also helping our students develop their oral literacy skills through reading aloud and talking to the younger children.
Here are some of the Middle students experience at Hansen Park
Today I went to the kinder! I played with two little kids and I read with them. I even went to the monkey bars!

Today I went to Hansen Park. I got to ask the kinder kids some questions and read to them. I read to Sienna and her best friend. I read Dead Dad. After I read I played with them, I was sad when it was time to go. I hope Sienna is my buddy next year.

I was walking to the kinder shaking with nerves when we got there I asked my group if they wanted me to read to them. They chose Miss Scary for me to read to them. I was so excited and got a flower to give to Miss Hubbard.

Holidays are fast approaching!
With one week left of term holidays are fast approaching. All Middle students have been working hard and they have all earned a well derserved break.
This term has been a very busy term with swimming, book week, the MCG excursion and a lot of learing new and intersting topics in the classroom. Over the holidays we encourage students to continue reading regularly so it keeps the routine up for them however we still want them to have a fun and relaxing break.
Book Week
Book week, where do we start. It was such a fun filled busy week with the MCG excursion, pj day and dress up day. It was fantastic seeing all the work students had put into their costumes.
The beginning of book week started with all of Middle embarking on an exciting excursion to the MCG. To start the day all the students met at Mooroolbark train startion to travel into the city together on the train. Some students were more excited about the train than actually going to the MCG. When we reached the MCG students, teachers and parent helpers were able to explore and compete in the sports museum and play area. It was a fantastic day even with getting caught in the thunder storm walking to Flinders Street Station.
Pyjama day was a great success and comfortable too. It was wonderful for the students to come to school in their pjs and share their favourite books from either now or when they were younger.
Friday was the end of book week and we went out with a bang with our dress up day and parade. It was great to see all the effort students have put into their costumes. Everyone looked wonderful and had a fantastic day!
Homework
We are very excited to see some of the amazing posters coming in for students homework where they are focusing on recycling or environmentally friendly solutions and activities that they can do at home. Students have created some very intersting and well developed posters that we can't wait for them to present next week.
Please make sure yours is done by the last week of term if you haven't finished it yet.
