LANGUAGES

Education Week

A focus for the French and Indonesian students during Education Week was the annual ten day Language Perfect World Championships.

The students have been challenged to compete against more than 300,000 students from around the world to learn as much vocabulary in the language they are studying at school and they can also choose to study other languages.

LHS students answered 275,569 questions gaining 99,639 points. A point represents a word or phrase learned. Globally, LHS ranked 222nd out of 1302 schools entered in the competition.  Out of 699 schools learning Indonesian, our students were 22nd and of 1096 schools learning French, our students were 143rd.

In 2017 there have been some amazing individual results with 30 students earning Awards. Derek Villaceran was 44th in the world with 23,156 points. He is one of 1,120 students globally who earned an Elite Award by gaining more than 10,000 points.
