VO2 Max Test
On Thursday 1 June, the Unit 3 PE students got to observe a VO2 Max test performed at the school.
METS Performance, a company that run’s VO2 Max testing came out to the school to perform the test and talk to the students about the protocols and the physiology behind the test.
Blake Hughes was the lucky volunteer who got to perform the test which is a maximal effort test, to test your maximal aerobic capacity. Blake’s VO2 Max was 56.7 ml/kg/min which places him in the 'Superior Category'. Great effort!
Activity Analyses
Students in Unit 4 PE are currently in the process of completing their activity analyses for their 'Training Program'. This involves the students playing a game and then analysing that game to determine the most important fitness requirements of that game. The students then undertake a 6 week training program to improve those components.
Year 7 Boys Football

Congratulations to the Year 7 Boys Football Team! Lead by Captain, Rhys Crossley, the boys have progressed through to the Eastern Metropolitan Region competition to be held later this term.
Intermediate Netball
Team 1
Last Tuesday, I had the pleasure of coaching the 1’s for 9/10 Netball. I had a very talented group of girls who worked extremely hard throughout the whole day.
After the first 3 rounds in section A pool, the team were undefeated and finished on top of the ladder and made it to the final.
In the final, the girls played against our other Lilydale team. The girls ended up winning the final to see them go straight through to Eastern Zone in August.
All the girls played so well on the day and showed positive encouragement towards each other in every game.
Special mention to Kelsey McMartin-Hall for being the dominant goal scorer for the day and Gemma Langdon for taking the most intercepts.

Team 4
The girls were very motivated to get some wins on the board today. Alli and Jacinta were strong in defence most of the day and Lilly, Jess N and Jess K worked together in the mid court. Emily shot some excellent goals and Ash and Kira interchanged as goal shooter.
The team morale and enthusiasm was high all day which allowed us to finish the round 2 - 1.
After a countback, the girls finished third overall. A great effort.

Senior Boys Netball
Team 1
I had the pleasure of coaching the 1’s for the Senior Boys Netball. I had a very talented group of boys who worked extremely hard throughout the whole day.
After the first 3 rounds in section A pool, the team had won 2 games and had a narrow loss to Emerald. They ended up finishing second on the ladder and made it into the final against Emerald.
In the final, the boys were determined for revenge against Emerald. At the end of time, the game was drawn which meant it went into overtime. Unfortunately, they ended up losing by a goal in the final.
All the boys played so well on the day and showed positive encouragement towards each other in every game.
Special mention to Shane Kollosche and Blake Hughes for being the dominant goal scorers for the day and Bayley Sciortino for taking the most intercepts. Well done boys on a great day.

Team 2
Stevie and I (Georgia), had the pleasure of coaching the second senior boys team, consisting of Peter Nouk, Brad Felstead, Josh Lechner, Matt Gibbons, Connor Ratcliffe, Jack Dacre Ronchi, Nick Zinghini, Thomas McDonald and Daniel Kaden.
The boys had a fairly successful day at school netball coming third in division one. They played their first game together against the top Lilydale side. It was a tough match, but in the end, fell short.
In the second game, we had a tough game against Emerald, the winners for the day and again we were unsuccessful.
However, the boys weren’t feeling defeated and came back in their third game to easily win against Upper Yarra. With Daniel’s beautiful goaling to thank, it placed them third for the finals.
The boys then had a fun match against one of the lower Lilydale High teams and they got to try different positions and learn some new skills.
In our finals game, they again pulled through to win the green ribbon, with an interesting game, where Brad Felstead in C and Connor Ratcliffe in WA managed to get some goals on the board.
The boys were a delight to coach and represented our school well throughout the tournament and they should all be very proud of themselves.

What a good day of netball it was on Monday with the Senior Boys. So much laughter and fun being shared around as well as hidden netball talent. All teams did an amazing job and tried their best.
My 3’s team were lucky enough to be undefeated all day, after being first of Pool B. Congratulations guys, you smashed it.
Cailey Nolan
Team 4
The weather on Monday held out with the rain and made it a good day. Our day could have been better with a win, but laughs were had by everyone.
The boys may have struggled with a few of the rules but they all gave it a go. Thanks for a good day.
