WHAT’S NEW IN THE 'YEAR 5 PLUS' AREA OF THE LIBRARY?

Lenny’s Book of Everything by Queensland author Karen Foxlee is a well written, beautiful and touching story with major themes of family, sacrifice, death, love and knowledge. It’s a wonderful read but do be warned – you might need to keep a box of tissues close by. Located in the FAMILY section.

Quark’s Academy is a page-turning adventure complete with humorous dialogue, mad plotting and peculiar characters. Junior science geniuses Augustine, Celeste and Oscar need to put their squabbles aside and their heads together if they want to get out of the Quark’s science academy alive . . . Located in the ADVENTURE section.

The Secret of the Night Train. All aboard the night train, where no one is as they seem!  As Max takes off on a thrilling journey across Europe by train, can she unravel the mystery of a priceless missing diamond and find a way to bring the jewel thief to justice?  The Secret of the Night Train is full of interesting characters, adventure and mystery. Located in the MYSTERY section.

JUNIOR LIBRARY – WHAT’S THE MOST POPULAR SERIES?

We are so pleased that many of our Junior School students are voracious readers. All students are encouraged to read and borrow regularly. Reading for pleasure is important as well as reading for information. Many of our Junior School students really enjoy finding a series they like and trying to read every book that the library has, from that series. The Junior Library has over 55 series that contain at least 10 titles in each.

By far, the most popular and often borrowed series is Geronimo Stilton and his sister Thea Stilton. Our Year 1 to 4 students constantly borrow them, along with some Prep and Year 5’s as well. In fact, we have just ordered 25 replacement copies along with 15 new titles ready for next year.  If you’ve never read one, why not borrow a title and have a read – you’ll see why our students find them such a fun read!

Over 220 titles have been published but we only have around 90 in the Junior Library and another 15 in the Year 4 Accelerated Reader Program.

Thank you
