Dads' Camp 2021

DADS' CAMP IS BACK!

By this time of the year, Skipps students and parents are getting for Spring/Summer, the start of camp season, and of course, the annual Dads Camp!

For the benefit of new parents to the school, over the last 7 years a small group of dedicated Dads developed a tradition of taking their kids down to the Anglesea Caravan and Camp site for a weekend of activities, food, music, movies and general fun in the sun. The weekend usually took place sometime in November/December. Over the years the camp has grown from a small group of Dads & kids to almost 350 dads/co-parents/carers and kids attending the 2019 camp.

Due to Covid we were forced to cancel Dads Camp 2020 and this year we expected to cancel the event again. However, with vaccination numbers growing fast and the state finally coming out of lock-down we feel everyone deserves something to look forward to.

We have therefore decided to try and pull something together and organise DADS CAMP 2021 for the weekend of 26-28 November.

Unfortunately, due to the rapidly changing events of this year and the lateness of our decision to hold the camp, this year the camp will be smaller and will be held in a new location. Total numbers will be capped at 160 people (approximately 60 adults + 100 kids) and our usual catering & activity plans will be scaled back. We apologise in advance for any disappointment if you miss out this year, hopefully next year we will be back to full capacity.

This year the camp will be held at Wye River Beachfront campsite on the Great Ocean Road. With beach and mountains as your backdrop, Wye River is a picturesque camping spot.  Located right on the beach and just 20 minutes from Lorne, or 35 minutes from Apollo Bay, it's an easy 2-hour drive from Melbourne. The campsite is located over the road from the famous Wye River General store, café and pub which overlook the incredible beach and rockpools.

More details of the camp event and booking process will be available soon however fees will include 2 nights camp-site accommodation (BYO Tent & camping gear) plus breakfast on Saturday & Sunday and Dinner on Saturday night.

A Trybooking site will be available in the coming couple of weeks and spaces will be strictly reserved on a first come first served basis so look out for communication of dates to avoid disappointment. We will attempt to accommodate two families who wish to book as 1 group to be on the same camp site for up to 6 people (two tents max).

Please note that the Dad’s Camp  is a private event and not a school event or activity.  The School and School staff have no involvement in, management of, or control over the Camp. School staff will not be in attendance at the Camp.

Given that the Camp is not an official school activity,  School staff  are not in any way   responsible for the supervision of or safety of children attending the Camp.  Parents and carers are responsible for the supervision and safety of their children participating in the Camp.
