Reflections on Faith

From the desk of the Religious Education Coordinator - Miss McMeniman

Term 4!

Here in Australia and around the world, October marks World Mission Month, a celebration of the global work of the Church and the dedication of missionaries, both religious and lay, as they reach out and support children and communities in need around the world. We are all challenged to be missionary disciples and to put our faith into action. World Mission Month is a time of special focus on this in schools across the Armidale diocese.

October is also  dedicated to our Most Holy Rosary in honour of our Blessed Mary. October 7 is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, it is a very special month! At St. Joseph's to celebrate this important month and to help support Catholic Mission Month, we will be engaging in a range of activities.

Each student in the school has created their own Rosary keychain for their personal use. Throughout this month students will use their personal beads to pray a decade of the Rosary during their religion lessons each day.

As fundraising events for Catholic Mission month we will be having:

  • "Free Hat Friday" for every Friday in the month of October. To wear a free hat, students are requested to bring a gold coin donation!
  • On the 29th October (the last Friday of the month) we will have a "Crazy Sock Day". A gold coin donation will be requested on this day as well to support Catholic Missions.

All donations will go directly to Catholic Missions to make a difference for children in Thailand. Students will be learning about the people of Thailand and all donations will go towards supporting their nutritional, medical and educational needs.
