Learning and Teaching Update

'We aim to provide a school environment where ‘Every person can flourish and be known’ This means that our teaching program identifies the unique needs of each individual student, and delivers a learning program designed to grow them into the best person that they can be'.

Dear Parents/carers and students

I would like to congratulate and thank each and every one of you for the enormous work you have all put in over the last 14 weeks of school closures. To the parents and carers who have juggled working from home and home schooling, you have done a phenomenal job at managing this very complex year. To the students, we know and understand how hard it has been to be away from school and your friends and we want to congratulate you for the way you have managed your own learning this year!

It has been a delightful week and a half as we returned to classrooms last week. The students came in so happy and eager to meet their teachers, peers and staff. The enthusiasm of children is truly infectious and we are so grateful that we get to share their positive energy and love for life everyday we are at school!

As we settle into the routine and rhythm of school life once again, the teachers will be focusing on the social and emotional wellbeing of all students, making sure that the transition back to school is a safe, easy and fun one. We will revisit the High Expectations we have for ourselves and each other through a focus on respect for ourselves and others! Having conversations with children at home around these concepts helps them manage their own behaviours and emotions through the school day.

The teachers will also immerse students in learning as we are well aware of the impact of Covid and school closures. All level teams will focus for the next few weeks on teaching students the most important things students need to know now. This is based on the unique learning journey of each child and they will be supported at the point of need.

I look forward to next Wednesday, 3rd November when we can all be at school together.

Enjoy your weekend and please continue to stay safe.

Kind regards

Glennis Kerr
