Wellbeing Week at Chelt. 11th October - 15th October 2021
To celebrate October as Mental Health Month we have nominated 11th - 15th October as Cheltenham's Wellbeing Week for our whole school community.
To start off the week a suggestion was to create a calendar that highlights good deeds, gratitude, kindness, forgiveness, support, activities for self care, helping others and healthy lifestyle activities. It is also an opportunity to make an effort to get to know someone that you have been meaning to contact and get to know better. The Mental Health Foundation has a great calendar that you can use if you don't make your own.
Each day on compass, a post is made with a suggestion of one specific action that you could do for yourself or others. Unfortunately, we have not been able to run the normal activities we have in the past years due to the COVID lockdown, however, we need to remind ourselves that our own wellbeing and that of our families in these difficult times is paramount.
Since the recent COVID lockdown the Wellbeing Team has been busy assisting students and families. Fortunately students are self referring for help and we are pleased to provide the help and support they require. Between the seven Chelt. Counsellors and Psychologists, over the last few weeks we have seen online, phone call check-ins and emails to approximately over 100+ young people.
Other supporters are Kingston Youth Services and Bayside Youth Services who have Psychologists on hand but they too are booked in advance, but will assist in helping with referrals.
We are advising people to go to their GPs for consultations and a chat. If it is critical then take the young person directly to Monash Children's Hospital and if that isn’t possible ring 000 for assistance.
Wellbeing Staff Update
Hollie Ardana our school Psychologist is on maternity leave and a replacement has not been available to replace her at this stage.
Fortunately to cover the gap that Hollie leaves us we have been able to bring on board for the next 6 months two student counselors Sophie Swart and Steven Aoun both from Monash University.
Our Wellbeing Team members are:
Lorraine East: Director of Wellbeing / Counsellor / Teacher
Matt Mottram: Wellbeing Worker
Maddie Dyson: Youth Worker
Nella Foley: Mental Health Nurse
Tiarne Swersky: Student Counsellor
Sophie Swart: Student Counsellor
Steven Aoun: Student Counsellor
Dave Goldsmith: Student Counsellor
Stay safe and well, please look after yourself and your families.

Mapping out a Pedestrian and Cycling Friendly Kingston
Kingston Council want to know how you think they can improve the experience of getting around Kingston, for walkers, cyclists or anyone who uses paths and trails. Consider what would make it easier for staff, students and families to use active travel (i.e. walking, cycling, scooting, skating) to get to work or school. We know how valuable active travel is for our health and also the planet, so share this feedback opportunity with your families and staff! You can share your views by completing an online survey or by using a digital mapping tool. Have your say by visiting the link below!
