Maths

In Number and Algebra, students will continue to investigate numbers through sequencing numbers up to 20 and beyond. They will be involved in activities to use the skills of sequencing backwards and forwards from different starting points, skip counting and number patterns.

They will also look at expanding numbers eg. In the number 46 there are 4 groups of 10 and 6 ones.

They will consolidate their understanding of addition and make links when learning about subtraction. The students will learn how to take away one number from another and how to use the ‘count back’ strategy.

The students will learn to share objects equally for example if there are 28 Preps and 14 games- they will share between 2. There will be 14 groups of 2.

The students will also learn about money and become familiar with matching coins to simple amounts of money.

The students will revise over other topics that have been covered throughout the year such as statistics, measurement and 2D and 3D shape.
