Dear Sacred Heart Community

As we come to the end of third term, this reflection has an all too familiar theme. Again onsite learning has been at a premium, when hopes early in the term were for some consistent resumption of normality. Whilst every endeavour is asked of our teachers to present learning experiences that maintain our student’s skill development, it is a fact that the culture of the classroom is what our students are missing.

Our parents and guardians have continued to be most supportive of their children’s learning, and have worked with us to try and minimise the impact of the challenge of being away from their peers and direct contact with their teachers.

I would like to thank all within our Sacred Heart School Community. To our students, parents and staff, thank you for the way you have continued to work together to maintain a school culture that is evidenced by a willingness to accept the challenges and a determination to fulfill your role so that our students can be at the heart of everything we do.

What next term will look like for our school community is purely speculative. On Sunday, our Premier will release his road map for getting out of lockdown. As soon as I know what next term will look like for our school, I will let you all know.

I would like to wish all our families an enjoyable next two weeks. I pray that some good weather can be enjoyed, that everyone stays safe and that if your team is in the grand final they win (I know the Galvin King family are devout Demons supporters and the McLeay family equally passionate about their Bulldogs - may the best team win).

As our Year Five/Six students will be aware, our Year Five/Six class teacher Amanda was meant to be getting married this Saturday to her fiancé Brett. Like many important occasions during these times, Amanda and Brett have decided to postpone their special day to a more appropriate time. This week our staff presented Amanda and Brett with a small gift as a reminder that we will be thinking of them this Saturday.

Year Five (2022 Year Six Buddies) Introducing Themselves

To 2022 Year Prep Students

Again with restrictions hampering some of our transition events for our 2022 Year Prep students, we have asked our Year Five students to put together a video introducing themselves to their 2022 Year Prep Buddy. Below are a couple of examples. I am sure our new Year Prep students will be very excited when they get their video early next term.

Thank you

The following information was presented in our newsletter last week. Thank you to those parents and guardians who made contact with the office this week and paid their child/ren's fees. I ask that if you have outstanding fees that they please be paid early next term.

Rosemarie, Maria and our school's Business Manager Bernadette, made me aware earlier this week, that a significant number of families have not fulfilled their financial commitment to our school by paying their school fees for this term and some families also for terms one and two. I am most aware that the majority of this year has been one of turmoil, with families having to confront many more important time consuming tasks than paying school fees.

I ask that families who have not got around to contacting our school office to pay their child/ren's fees, please do so next week before our third term holiday commences. As Maria and Rosemarie have indicated above, a direct debit arrangement for paying fees is strongly encouraged, and makes the fee collection system easier for all.

Enrolments

Whilst enrolments for Year Prep 2022 students attending our school officially closed at the end of last term, we still have some positions available. We also have some positions in other classes as well for 2022, so please spread the word to your family, friends and neighbours who live in the area, that Sacred Heart School is well worth considering for their child's primary schooling years.

Please stay safe.

Yours sincerely

A Great Initiative From One Of Our Parents

Earlier this week I received the following email from Natasha mum of Chloe in Year One and Billie who will joins us next year in Year Prep. Whilst the school newsletter is not usually used for advertising, I am sure you will agree that Natasha's initiative is justifiably advertised in this newsletter.

"Hi Mark

Hope you’ve been well. It’s Chloe and Billie’s mum in case you don’t recognise my work email address. The girls are doing very well and Chloe certainly misses Sacred Heart very much.

I wanted to reach out to you because over the last few weeks I’ve been trying to shift my focus to how I can help the less fortunate through these difficult times. It might be small in scale but I’ve designed some merchandise, (t’shirts, hats, tote bags), with the intent to donate 100% of the profits to the Australian Red Cross Covid relief fund.

I was wondering if this is something you would consider sharing with the school community?

The items can be purchased via the following link www.redbubble.com/people/StylePlay/shop?asc=u.

All of the items have been designed to promote vaccination. Who knows who you might influence to get the vaccine while you’re out for a walk or doing the weekly groceries etc? Hopefully we can boost our vaccination rates and get back to living the lives we miss so much. In the interim, my hope is to raise whatever I can  to help those less fortunate get the basic essentials they need to stay safe.

Thanks

Natasha"
