Alumni

The Alumni Program is now well and truly underway at St Albans, and we’ve rounded off the term with two fantastic sessions. As part of the alumni program we invite former students back to the school to give meaningful insights into their post school study and career pathways.

Wednesday March 11 saw us celebrating International Woman's Day with the wonderful Ana Boado.  Ana, The Stella Prize Program Manager and a Master of Arts and Cultural Management graduate, was back on campus for IWD to talk about her post-graduation experiences and career pathway in a compelling lunchtime Q&A session in the library.  It was such a privilege and a pleasure to hear of the many triumphs and challenges she has faced, and she inspired us all with her eloquence and determination.

Ana addressed teachers and students from across all year levels, and we all walked away with something relatable and relevant to ourselves. The main take away; your life is YOUR story, YOU write it.

The message was a little different but just as inspiring for our Year 12 students on Monday March 16; take the time to find what you enjoy, and then do that.  In such intense and uncertain times for our students it was such a treat to see them completely immersed in the wondrous world of astrophysics.

For just one period the weight of the outside world fell away as our Year 12 physics students were privy to an intimate Q&A with the delightfully engaging and clever Jacqui Musiov 10’

Jacqui, a VSSEC Science Educator, and Astrophysics PhD student, was insightful in her accounts of studying and working within the Space Science industry. She was captivating and elicited many complex questions from the curious audience.

Both these incredible alumni took time out of their usual schedules to return to campus as guests of the school and as volunteers of their community.  It’s because of them we’re able to offer our students insight and practical tips about life after school.  It’s because of them we’re able to inspire and motivate our students. And it’s because of them that we’re able to instil a sense of value and pride that stays with our students long after they leave us. For that we are truly thankful.
