Middle School Report

Congratulations to all the Year 9 and 10 students for a smooth start to the year, and a successful term’s work. It has been a busy month, and we have been joined by a number of new students at both year levels. A very warm welcome to you all!

A number of students have been involved in sports teams, training for competitions and representing the school. Upcoming sporting events will be rescheduled in light of the postponement of all school excursions, and we look forward to hearing of the students’ participation and sporting success at a later date.

In the year level assemblies held on Friday 13 March, students were reminded of the importance of maintaining good hygiene practices and supporting and looking out for each other. Thank you to William Davcevski and Areti Stanislaw from Year 10, and Catherine Le and Teresa Makahon from Year 9 who spoke to their peers about the importance of being effortful learners. Their explanations of the steps students can take to improve their effort when learning were excellent.

Year 9 Activities

On Tuesday 10 March, Year 9 students participated in the annual swimming gala. We were very pleased to see so many of the students entering the events and contributing to the chants and songs of the different houses. Students studying Advance have participated in a number of activities as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award, including hikes and first aid training. Over the past few weeks excursions were also run by the Science department for students to conduct field work studies.

Year 10 Activities

On Thursday 5 March, Ms Mana Mohan and Ms D’Elton took a small group of female students to a women’s breakfast event run in the city.  The focus was on celebrating the achievements of women and building confidence in future generations. This coincided with the celebration of International Women’s Day and recognised the achievements of many women throughout history. Year 10s are also in the process of planning their work experience placements at the end of Term 2 by completing OHS assessments in their Maths and English classes.
